Drilax 3-Inch Diamond Hole Saw is engineered for clean, controlled drilling in hard construction materials using an angle grinder or a standard drill (with included adapter). Featuring a vacuum-brazed diamond cutting edge and a rigid steel core, it delivers consistent performance for professional trades and experienced DIY users.

  • Industrial Vacuum-Brazed Edge: Permanent diamond bonding ensures the cutting edge stays sharp and effective longer than traditional electroplated bits.

  • Dual-Tool Compatibility: Native angle grinder threads plus an included drill adapter provide maximum versatility for any toolkit.

  • Side-Slot Cooling: Specially designed slots facilitate rapid heat dissipation and debris removal, optimized for high-speed dry drilling.

  • Rigid Steel Core: A heavy-duty steel body ensures stability and prevents wobbling, resulting in perfectly round holes in thick countertops and tiles.

Compatible Materials

  • Materials: Porcelain tile, ceramic tile, granite, quartz, marble, slate, brick, block, and non-reinforced masonry.
  • Tool Compatibility: Direct fit for angle grinders (5/8"-11 thread) and compatible with all standard drills (Ryobi, Milwaukee, DeWalt, etc.) via the included adapter.
  • Note: Not recommended for glass or fragile decorative tiles.

How To Use

  • Angle Grinder Mounting: Thread the hole saw directly onto the 5/8"-11 spindle of your angle grinder. Start the cut at a 45-degree angle to establish a "crescent" notch, then gradually bring the tool to a 90-degree angle.
  • Standard Drill Mounting: Use the included adapter to connect the hole saw to any standard 3/8" or 1/2" drill chuck.
  • Operating Speed: Operate at a high RPM. Use a light, steady pressure and a slight "oscillating" circular motion to help clear dust from the cutting path.
  • Heat Management: For deep cuts in hard stone, pause for 10 seconds every 30 seconds of drilling to allow the air-cooled slots to dissipate heat.

Use Cases

  • Plumbing & HVAC: Perfect for 3-inch pipe sleeves, vent lines, and drainage penetrations through floor tiles or exterior stone.
  • Kitchen & Bath Renovation: Creating precise openings for shower mixing valves and larger faucet assemblies.
  • Masonry Work: Drilling pass-throughs for conduit or plumbing in brick, block, and natural stone walls.

F.A.Q.

  • Can I use this with an angle grinder?
Yes. The hole saw is threaded for 5/8"-11 angle grinders and also includes an adapter for standard drills.
  • Does this hole saw require water?
No. It is designed for dry drilling. Optional light misting may be used to reduce dust, but water is not required.
  • What materials can it cut?
Porcelain and ceramic tile, granite, quartz, stone, brick, block, and non-reinforced masonry.
  • What is it commonly used for?
Plumbing pipe penetrations, HVAC ducts, recessed lighting, speaker mounts, and electrical access holes.
  • Can I use this on reinforced concrete?
No. This hole saw is not designed to cut rebar or heavily reinforced concrete.
  • How do I start the hole cleanly?
Begin at a slight angle, then gradually bring the tool upright once the diamonds bite into the surface.

Q: Does this hole saw require water for cooling?
A: No, the Pro Series is engineered for dry drilling. While a light mist can help control dust, it is not required for the tool to function effectively.

Q: Can I use this on glass or mirrors?
A: No. This vacuum-brazed bit is designed for heavy-duty masonry and stone. It is too aggressive for glass. For glass projects, please use our Drilax Chrome Series wet-drilling bits.

Q: Is the drill adapter included?
A: Yes. This 3-inch model includes a 5/8"-11 to hex shank adapter so you can use it with both angle grinders and standard power drills.
