The Drilax 1-3/8 Inch Diamond Core Drill Bit is a premium tool from our Gold Series, designed for those who need more speed and durability than standard bits provide. The turbo segment technology integrates high-grade industrial diamonds within a laser-welded matrix, ensuring the cutting edge remains sharp even under heavy dry-use conditions in foundations and masonry blocks.

Benefits

Advanced Turbo Cutting: The specialized segment design allows for faster penetration and better cooling during dry operations.

Laser-Welded Strength: Provides a superior bond between the diamond segments and the steel body, preventing segment loss in tough materials.

Universal 3/8" Shank: Saves you money by eliminating the need for specialized high-torque or SDS equipment.

Compatible Materials

  • Materials: Brick walls, concrete blocks, stucco, foundation slabs, natural stone, cinder block, and pavers.
  • Tool Compatibility: Works with all standard 3/8" or 1/2" corded and cordless drills (DeWalt, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Makita).
  • Pro Series Tip: For sizes in this series that do not include a guide, we recommend creating a simple template out of scrap wood to ensure a perfect start.
  • Warning: Not recommended for glass, mirrored surfaces, or delicate decorative tiles.

How To Use

  • Drill Mounting: This bit features a universal 3/8 inch shank that fits directly into any standard corded or cordless power drill. No specialized adapters are required.
  • Starting the Cut: Since this model does not include a mechanical guide, we recommend creating a simple guide template out of scrap wood or plastic. Alternatively, start the cut at a 45-degree angle to notch the surface, then slowly bring the tool upright to 90 degrees.
  • Operating Technique: Use a steady, moderate speed. Apply light, controlled pressure and let the sintered diamond teeth do the cutting. Do not use the hammer setting on your drill.
  • Heat Management: Although engineered for dry use, using a wet sponge or a small stream of water will keep the bit cool and significantly reduce dust.
  • Safety Note: Avoid contact with rebar. If rebar is encountered, stop drilling immediately to prevent damage to the sintered teeth.

Use Cases

  • Plumbing & HVAC: Ideal for 1-inch pipe sleeves, radiator pipes, and running PEX or copper supply lines through exterior walls.
  • Electrical Utilities: Perfect for creating entry points for 1-1/4" conduit or large-diameter service entrance cables.
  • Bathroom & Kitchen: Precise drilling for faucet installations in granite, marble, or quartz countertops where a slightly larger clearance is needed.
  • Masonry & Anchoring: Create clean passages for structural anchors and exterior utility connections through brick, stucco, and slate.
