The Drilax 1-3/8 Inch Vacuum Brazed Diamond Hole Saw drills clean, chip-free 1-3/8 inch holes in porcelain, ceramic, tile, granite, quartz, marble and glass. Industrial diamonds are vacuum brazed in a thick layer onto a solid steel body, so the bit cuts faster and lasts longer than standard electroplated hole saws. The taller body gives a 1-3/8 inch depth of cut, about 30% deeper than standard bits, so it goes through thick countertops and slabs in one pass. 1-3/8 inch is the standard size for kitchen faucet and soap dispenser holes.

Benefits

Vacuum Brazed Diamonds: A thick diamond layer bonded to the rim for faster cutting and up to 5x longer life than electroplated bits.

1-3/8" Depth of Cut: About 30% deeper than standard bits, for 3 cm countertops and thick slabs in a single pass.

Side Cooling Slots: Let water in and debris out, and make it easy to push the core out.

3/8" Triangular Shank: Fits standard corded and cordless drills, and the flat sides keep it from slipping in the chuck.

Compatible Materials

  • Materials: Porcelain, ceramic, tile, granite, quartz, marble, natural stone and glass.
  • Tool Compatibility: Standard corded and cordless drills and drill presses.
  • Not For: Wood, metal, plastic or masonry block. Do not use hammer mode.

How To Use

  • Mark & Wet: Mark the hole position and spray or drip water on the work area.
  • Start at an Angle: There is no pilot bit. Hold the drill at a slight angle and drill slowly to cut a small C-shaped groove, or use a drill guide or a scrap-wood template.
  • Bring to Vertical: Slowly bring the drill upright and keep spraying or dripping water on the cut.
  • Light Pressure: Let the diamonds do the work. Don't push hard, and dip the bit in water every 20–30 seconds.

Use Cases

  • Kitchen Faucets: Standard 1-3/8 inch faucet holes in granite, quartz and marble countertops.
  • Sink Accessories: Soap dispenser, sprayer and disposal air switch holes.
  • Shower & Bath: Shower handle and valve stem holes in wall tile.
  • Planters & Glass: Drainage holes in ceramic pots and holes in glass.

F.A.Q.

Q: What is the difference between vacuum brazed and electroplated hole saws?
A: Vacuum brazed bits have a thicker, stronger diamond layer, so they cut faster and last up to 5x longer than electroplated bits.
Q: Is it compatible with my drill?
A: Yes. The 3/8 inch triangular shank fits standard corded drills, cordless drills and drill presses with no adapter.
Q: Do I need water?
A: Yes. Keep the cut wet the whole time to cool the bit, control dust and get a clean, chip-free hole.
Q: How do I start without a pilot bit?
A: Start at a slight angle to cut a small groove, then bring the drill upright. A drill guide or a scrap-wood template with a matching hole also works.
Q: How thick a countertop can it drill?
A: The 1-3/8 inch cutting depth goes through standard 3 cm granite and quartz countertops in one pass.
